Craig Sabin began writing in high school for the drama club. His first screenplay was “Killer Tennisballs,” a precursor to the much more successful and actually produced “Killer Tomatoes.” What was he thinking? I mean, “Killer Tennisballs”? That’s just dumb.

After studying acting at NYU, Craig was urged to try screenwriting. He soon began placing in various competitions. His script “The Return of Don Juan” was a WGA East Finalist, “Carma” was a quarter-finalist in the Nicholl Fellowship, and earned him representation. “Hunting Season” was a finalist in the Austin Heart of Film Screenplay Competition.
Along the way, Craig performed improvisation with Forplay, and later founded a sketch comedy group, “This!”. He acted in numerous cult horror films, such as “Slime City,” “I Was a Teenage Zombie” and “Naked Fear”, as well as written magazine articles for men’s journals.
In 1999, Craig moved his wife Abby and his daughter Susanna to Pasadena, CA, to pursue screenwriting full time. He has since written for Disney, Showtime, and TNT. His script “1952” was picked up by Baltimore/Spring Creek pictures and HBO, with Greg Kinnear attached, before bottoming out in development. His script “Overkill” is currently under option.
Craig is the co-founder of the website 5 Minute Horror and writes the daily horror haikus on the 5 Minute Horror Twitter page. He sits on the leadership committees of three different Hollywood writers’ groups, helping others develop their screenplays, as well as refining his own. He is ably represented by Babz Bitela of Silver Bitela Agency. His dream is “The Lincoln-Douglas Debates” movie.
